Wanted – Direct Client Services Worker – TG Innerselves

Position Description

The Direct Client Services Facilitator will carry out all duties and responsibilities associated with the TG Innerselves program and drop-in support.

The main focus will involve providing workshops and on-going case management to youth who identify as being transgender.

Liaise with social service providers, to create and facilitate bi-weekly workshops on topics relating to gender and transition issues.
Interview clients presenting with problems such as homelessness, personal and family adjustment challenges, difficulty with finances, unemployment, lack of food, addictions, and physical and mental impairments to determine nature and degree of problem;
Counsel clients individually or in other small groups regarding plans for meeting needs
Refer clients to community resources and other organizations.
Compile records and prepare reports in accordance with regulations from SACY the OCSWSSW and CCPA
Motivate clients by using enthusiasm, energy and positive reinforcement. Establish professional relationships; encourage client input into service delivery.
Participate in program development activities and team meetings by communicating ideas, issues and options.
Complete general tasks as assigned by your direct supervisor
Diploma or degree in the social services or a related field of study
Empathy toward vulnerable populations
Extensive knowledge of Transgender laws, issues, and supports
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to mobilize people to develop new skills, and motivate people to participate in activities that will improve their quality of life
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Extensive knowledge of community resources
Ability to speak French and knowledge of native culture is an asset.
This offer is for an open-ended part-time contract position and would involve day, evening and flexible hours.
