Gender Spectrum helps to create gender sensitive and inclusive environments for all children and teens.
“Transgender” is an umbrella term for people whose gender identity differs from what is typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth while “cisgender” refers to individuals who have a match between the gender they were assigned at birth and their personal identity. It includes the majority of people and is used in counterpoint to “transgender” or “trans.”
Are you looking for a safe environment to explore your gender identity, or just want to ask questions? Are you looking for help in supporting, or possibly understanding, someone who has identified as Transgender to you? We are here to help, whether it is through peer support, informal discussion, or assistance in finding you professional services. All communications are held to the strictest of confidence.
The Trans PULSE Project is a community-based research (CBR) project that is investigating the impact of social exclusion and discrimination on the health of trans people in Ontario, Canada.
irst and most importantly, you are not alone. Our families, including our founders’ families, usually had no experience with gender issues prior to learning about their own child’s gender identity and expression. We have a wide range of resources for parents, young people, for educators, and for healthcare professionals, but we also know that you need guidance and support as well, just as we did when we first learned about these issues. Many of our materials are available as PDFs that you may print, distribute or link back to our website.
