"The Welcome Friends Association" will be hosting a "Wine & Cheese Meet-and-Greet" at the Annual meeting of London Conference of the United Church of Canada.

This will be on Thursday, May 26th, 7-10 pm at the Comfort Suites & Conference Centre on Great Northern Road in Sault Ste. Marie.  Cost for this event is $15 pre-registration or $20 at the door if space is available.  During this time "the Shower of Stoles" project from the Institute for Welcoming Resources (Minneapolis, MN, USA) will have 30 liturgical stoles on display.  There is no charge to experience the Shower of Stoles, but free-will donations to their ongoing support would be welcome.

A 'stole' is a garment worn by clergy and lay people while presiding or leading worship.  It has a long history and is worn today as a symbol of leadership in service in particular to a faith community.

The stoles on display have been donated to the project by members of many ecumenical groups.  The display is offered in the profound hope that God's loving church will someday fully recognize and accepts its gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender members.

Come and meet the team!!!!!
