Alan Hyatt


Alan has been a member of the Ontario Provincial Police since 1981. He is currently stationed at the Hwy 407 ETR detachment and holds the rank of Constable. He is also a member of the Ontario Provincial Police’s Golden Helmets Precision Motorcycle Team.

During Alan’s career with the OPP he has been stationed in Warren, Sudbury Detachment, Sudbury Crime Unit, South Porcupine Traffic and Marine Unit.
He has worked in General Law Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, as a K-9 handler, marine duties, motorcycle duty, and traffic unit.

In 1991 Alan was involved in two major manhunts which resulted in 4 OPP officers being shot, one fatally. In another pursuit, Alan’s cruiser took three bullets to the front of the vehicle. These two incidents helped prepare him for the biggest and most frightening challenge that would impact his life forever – Coming Out.
